Jumping In

Principle photography has begun for my next feature film, Furious Love.  This is a follow up/sequel/whatever-you-want-to-call-it to Finger of God, and if early footage is any indication, it’s going to be a rip-roaring time.

Our opening took us to Tanzania, Africa, with Jeff Jansen and his Global Fire Ministries.  Jeff was there on a crusade and we decided to tag along for the ride to see what God might be up to.  I haven’t yet decided if this movie is going to be a chronological chain of events the way Finger was, but I can pretty much assure you that what we captured in Tanzania will be opening the next film.  Without giving too much away, let’s just say that each night I spent about two hours in what we affectionately called "the demon tent."  This was where they brought the people who were manifesting demons to be excorcised.  After I spent the first night in there, I made sure the rest of my crew spent some time in there the rest of the week.  It’s hard to explain what it’s like to be surrounded by 20-25 demoniacs writhing around, screaming, spitting, thrashing, puking, and generally causing mayhem for two hours.  Braden, my right hand man for this film, was even attacked by one.  I can’t say for sure, but it felt like they knew why we were there, and they weren’t incredibly happy with us.  I don’t think I’ll ever forget staring into the eyes of a possessed boy who wanted nothing more than to rip my heart out of my chest.

And that’s how the movie is going to START!

I just arrived home from our second spot, Indonesia.  We went out there basically on blind faith to visit a man I was referred to by the name of Philip Mantofa.  You’ve never heard of him, but when you see Furious Love, you’re going to want to know a LOT more about him.  He’s one of the most genuine, humble, and incredible men of God I have ever met.  His heart reminded me a lot of Heidi Baker.

We did some interviews with him and visited his church.  This place was incredible.  First of all, it’s a 30,000 member mega-church, and Philip is the head pastor at only 33 years old.  But the crazy thing about the place is the fact that it’s almost entirely run by young people.  We walked through the staff room and there were probably 50-60 people there, none of whom was over 30 years old.  And when it’s time to go out and do street evangelism in this almost exclusively Muslim country, it’s the Junior High kids–13-14 years old–who do the ministry.  The whole place was just bonkers for Jesus.  Philip told me that it’s practically illegal to go to that church and just sit in your chair on Sunday morning and take up space.  You have to get out and DO something for the kingdom if you want to be a member.

I have so many stories already, but you’re going to have to wait for the movie.  Please be praying for us, as this shoot is going to be much more intense, both physically and spiritually.  We covet your prayers and your covering over us for the next year-and-a-half.

Our next shoot will be in October, but I’m keeping it under wraps since it’s here in the States and is a fairly dangerous one, spiritually speaking.  I’ll tell you about it afterwards though!

Keep sending us your testimonies about how God is using Finger of God, we never get tired of them.  Also, be looking for the deluxe version of Finger (5 DVDs) in early November.

Wow sounds like you had a blast in Africa! My prayers will be with you as you visit here in America with a stronghold from old. Be blessed, and keep up the good work! In Christ< Josh

Blessings to you as you breakthrough into new realms during the making of this movie. SO excited to see the continuation. You mentioned the deluxe version of Finger of God (5 DVD's) coming out in November but asked for prayer especially for the next year and a half. Does that mean the 5 DVD special will be this November (2008) or a future November? Excited about it, no matter what!

My wife's parents just started an orphanage in Peru and my wife and I are planning on traveling back and forth over the next couple of years and starting several more. I saw your film last night and was blown away. This is what the church needs to see and know is going on all over the world. I don't know if the dvd has subtitles, but please consider translation.

The Holy Spirit led me to shell my black-eyed peas in the t.v. room this 9/25/08 evening. When I turned the t.v. on and went to TBN, I immediately was hooked. It wasn't so much what was happening (Jason at Yale University asking for anyone to come for healing), but the narrator's message underlying all that was happening on the screen. I thank and praise the Lord that HE put it in your heart to seek the answer/s to "Is there more to the Christian life...". I praise HIM for the members of the Body that serve to build up the Body. You have done a wonderful admirable job of it so far. Looking forward to the 'more to come'.
